Dr Russ has a proven track record in both radio and television presenting, and is happy to be contacted by news organisations for expert media commentary on the following topics:

  • Mental health issues relating to children, young people and families
  • Psychological responses to trauma

His experience in presentation and production started in 1985 as a station Assistant at BBC Radio Bristol. Subsequently Russell went on to provide programming for a number of BBC local radio stations in the South West before moving overseas to work for the British Forces Broadcasting Service (BFBS).

Russell joined the staff of HTV in 1989 and was a continuity announcer and local newsreader. He then expanded his media career as a presenter for Room 785 on BFBS TV and also directed this live daily programme for a while.

More recently Dr Russ combined his love of psychology and broadcasting by producing a short film on mental health with a group of service users in Bedfordshire and also producing a quarterly radio programme for local community radio Secklow Sounds.

Russell continues to be involved in radio broadcasting and has been a regular panelist on the family hour on BBC 3CR and a contributor for programmes on Talk Radio.
