Phocion Psychology Practice, psychologyforlife.co.uk, drruss.co.uk or Russell Hurn and associated therapists work within strict confidential guidelines and anything discussed will not be revealed without your explicit permission. I may consult other professionals regarding the best course of your treatment this will be done entirely confidentially. If you threaten grievous bodily harm or death to yourself or another person, I am required to act in a responsible manner to inform or protect the intended victim. If there is any indication of current abuse I am also required to act responsibly to follow local and national safeguarding policies for children and adults. No action will be taken without you being informed unless this would increase the level of risk. I will need to contact your GP in cases of emergency; in this and any other instance where contact is appropriate I will inform you about all communications.
My sessional fee per hour is available on request. Payment, by cash, cheque, BACs or Square, is due at the end of each session. Missed sessions or cancellations later than 24 hours before will be charged in full. See pricing information and terms and conditions documents. Other chargeable services include report writing, letters, and telephone conversations longer than ten minutes and are charged at a proportion of the hourly rate. If, during therapy,you become involved in legal proceedings that require my participation, you will be expected to pay for my professional time even if I am called to testify by another party. I will not become involved in legal matters unless instructed by a Judge. I do not become involved in legal proceedings between couples.
All information gained from the therapeutic process is governed by the Data Protection Act 2018.
I keep notes about our sessions and use these to ensure I understand details for our next session. These notes are not kept any longer than necessary. I may also keep minimal information on a password protected computer, this may include treatment notes, diagrams, contact information, completed clinical questionnaire and e-mails you may send me.
Information provided by the client will remain confidential unless both the therapist and the client agree to discuss such information with a third party (for example written report to client’s GP, insurer etc). The only circumstances where confidentiality will be broken is where there are concerns about either the client’s safety or the safety of another person or if the therapist is legally obliged by laws to provide information for court proceedings. Wherever possible, this will be discussed with the client first.
The client’s situation may be discussed within the therapist’s clinical supervision but identifiable information about the client, for example name and address will not be provided.
Dr Russell Hurn, drruss.co.uk, psychologyforlife.co.uk, and Phocion Psychology Practice is not an emergency service and cannot respond to crises situation. I am often not immediately available by telephone; I will not answer my phone when I am in sessions. Phone contact can be made during weekday working hours 9-6 pm only. In an emergency clients are recommended to contact emergency services (999) or attend your local Accident or Emergency department. Telephone messages and emails to Dr Russell Hurn cannot be perceived as seeking adequate help in a crisis situation.
