Dr Russell Hurn is an accomplished mental health profession. He is accredited by the Health Care Professions Council, an Associate Fellow of the British Psychological Society and an accredited EMDR Europe Supervisor/Consultant and Child and Adolescent Practitioner.
Dr Hurn’s experience includes client focused work over 17 years and more recently this has expanded into Leadership roles where he was the Clinical Director of a local Voluntary Sector organisaton responsible for the delivery of clinical services for 5000 service users a year across Bedfordshire and Cambridgeshire. In addition to his private practice he is now working at the Anna Freud National Centre for Child and Families where he is the module lead for the Core Skills module, part of the CYP IAPT Therapies training for CAMHS professionals.
Dr Hurn has also presented his research into ‘Mind and Body Communication’ and EMDR group practice at national conferences. He was the former chair of the Child and Adolescent Section of EMDR UK and Ireland. Dr Hurn has published a number of articles on clinical interventions in professional journals. He is currently writing his own Parents’ Mental Health First Aid Kit (see the resources section for a sample chapter). He has also just published his first children’s book, Collingwood’s Amazing Wildlife Emporium.
